Creative wireless speakers ZiiSound D5 BT

We confess that we like Creative gear especially Creative PMPs and today we took a look at a great addition for your PMP, the ZiiSound D5 BT wireless sound system. This little unit sports a 2.0 speaker system of high performance 2.75 inch drivers which will connect to any of your toys that support Bluetooth connectivity. Got a toy with no Bluetooth support, then you can still get connected to the ZiiSound by using Creative’s BT-D1 Bluetooth USB transmitter. Here’s a list of features and details on the ZiiSound D5 BT

* Wirelessly stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device
* Awarded the prestigious red dot award for product design
* apt-X audio codec
* high performance 2.75″ full range drivers with efficient digital amplifiers
* touch-sensitive volume control
* charge your iPhone or iPod by docking it
* AUX-in port for other portable devices
* integrated bass port at the rear
* Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR connectivity
* Supported Bluetooth profiles - A2DP & AVRCP
* Operating Range Up to 10 meters
* 42.5cm x 11cm x 9cm
* 3.8 kg

Whilst it may not be the greatest sound system in the world, it may be a great addition to your gadget list for those of you with a bluetooth PMP/smartphone. We couldn’t find any hands on reviews of the ZiiSound but we reckon that it could be a winner for Creative and it’s available at Amazon for $300 at the moment. If you happen to have heard what the Creative ZiiSound sounds like, feel free to let us all know in the comment box below.

Creative launch Zen X-Fi2

April 9th, 2010
Creative Labs Zen X-Fi2

Today we’re taking a look at Creative’s PMP, the Zen X-Fi2, which is a 3 inch touchscreen unit available in three capacities, starting at 8GB, through 16 and ending up at 32 gigs of media zeroes and ones. Here’s a full list of the bits and pieces on the Creative Zen X-Fi2

* 102mm x 57mm x 11.6mm
* 75g
* 3.0″ TFT Touch Screen LCD, 262k colors
* 400 x 240 pixels resolution
* Up to 25hrs of audio playback
* Up to 5hrs of video playback
* microSD memory card support
* Video formats WMV, MPEG4-SP, DivX and XviD
* Audio formats MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC
* Image formats JPEG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG
* Built-in FM Radio
* USB 2.0 connectivity

The touchscreen functionality is, dare we say, a nice touch removing any ugly buttons from the front of the unit and the X-Fi2 also supports FLAC audio, a none too popular format amongst PMPs. The Creative website says there are four capacities available but don’t supply a price tag for the 64 GB so whilst we don’t doubt its existence we’re not totally convinced about its availability. The X-Fi2 is available at Amazon in its three capacities for the following price tags - $111 (8 GB), $141 (16 GB) and $202 (32 GB). We must admit these look like good prices to us for a touchscreen PMP, let us know what you think.

Creative Zen Mozaic DAP out now

August 4th, 2008

Creative Zen Mozaic DAP

I must admit the latest Zen music and video player from Creative, the Mozaic 2GB/4GB DAP, looks kinda funky with its multi-colour controls. But are looks enough to make the masses rush out and buy one of these suckers? Here’s the low down on the specs on the Mozaic to see if it is stampede worthy.

* 2 GB or 4 GB capacity options
* 1.8 inch 128 x 160 res TFT display
* Built-in speaker
* 32 hours of continuous audio playback
* 5 hours of continuous video playback
* Integrated FM radio with 32 pre-sets
* Voice memo recording
* Support for audio formats mp3, wma, wav and Audible 4
* Support for image formats jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tiff
* Alarm clock, calendar and contact features
* 3.1 x 1.6 x 0.5 inches
* 0.1 lbs
* USB 2.0 connectivity

As for price tags, the 2 GB version rocks in at US$60, whilst its bigger brother weighing in at 4 GB will set you back US$80. Both these units compare favourably with the SanDisk Sansa Fuze which on release would have set you back an extra $20 for the same capacities. So going on prices and specs it looks as if good old Creative have come up with a little gem with the Zen Mozaic DAP.

Creative Zen Stone Plus expands to 4 GB

December 9th, 2007

4GB Creative Zen Stone Plus

It seems as if Creative have squeezed in a couple more GB to boost their Zen Stone Plus capacity up to 4 GB or 1,000 songs apparently. The downside? For some reason only black models are strong enough to hold the extra zeros and ones :)

Here are some bits and bobs about the Stone Plus

* 2.19 x 1.39 x 0.5 inches
* 0.74 oz
* 9.5 hours playback time
* Charges via USB
* Handles mp3, wma and Audible
* FM radio
* voice recorder

Still keen? Well the price tag rocks in at US$90 for the 4 GB model and I must admit I do rather like the look of this little sucker and black is the in colour for gadgets right now so that only leaves one question. Anybody want to buy a ‘hardly-used’ iPod?
