The Motorola Atrix is an awesome 4G smartphone which can double up as a laptop or desktop. The unit can slot into a laptop dock which sports an 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 res display, two USB ports and weighs 2.34 pounds. Another optional extra is the desktop dock which allows you to use the 4G Atrix as an extra home computer. The desktop dock boasts three USB ports, an HDMI port and headphone jack. But what about the Atrix itself, well here are the specs on the unit
The Motorola Atrix sports a dual-core CPU, the first smartphone in the US to do so, and measures 2.5 x 4.6 x 0.4 inches. It weighs in at only 4.8 ounces and has a decent 960 x 540 res display.
Motorola showed the world its new Backflip mobile phone at CES and now you can get your hands on it for a $100. Oh yeah, as long as you sign up for a two year plan with AT&T. The Backflip takes the slider concept a step further with the QWERTY keyboard around the back of the phone when closed. A hinged edge allows the keyboard to be rotated out and around to position the keyboard underneath the screen just like a slider. But here’s the clever bit from the Motorola design boys - the back of the display section has a touchpad module which is accessible whilst the keyboard is flipped out. Otherwise the Backflip sports the usual bells and whistles with software that syncs with Facebook and the rest, full HTML web browsing, etc. Here’s a full list of those features and specifications.
* Always-on social networking synching with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter
* Touch pad, touch display, and back-flip QWERTY with table top mode
* Contacts, including status and pictures, auto-populate from social networks
* full HTML web browsing

* 133 grams
* 53.0 x 108.0 x 15.3 mm
* 1400 mAh battery

* 315 hours on standby
Quite an array of specs and we confess pretty impressive too. The unit is powered by Android 1.5 and when purchased with an AT&T two year contract will set you back $100 after rebates. The Motorola Backflip is available from March 7th and you can sign up now for email updates at AT&T’s website. Whilst we’re never convinced about the wisdom a contractual agreement we must admit the Backflip would certainly make us more likely to sign up for one.
We managed to dig up this video for you showing the Backflip in action from phonedog when they were at CES.
Yes we admit we like sliders and here’s Motorola’s CLIQ slider cellphone now available for T-Mobile customers for a mere $200 after rebate. The CLIQ features MotoBlur with which you can apparently
Stream your social networking feeds to your handset in real time, providing instant access to the latest happenings and messages from your friends.
A great bonus for all you social network fiends out there. The Motorola CLIQ also sports Wi-Fi connectivity and of course the oh so sexy slide out QWERTY keyboard. Here are a few more bits and pieces on the Motorola CLIQ

We also tracked down this video from phonedog of a demo of the Motorola CLIQ
As we mentioned the CLIQ looks like a great unit for social networks fiends but for other mere mortals the $200 is probably unjustifiable.
Lots of information is floating around about the Motorola i9 clam shell, but the little sucker is yet to surface or even have a price tag attached to it. Electronista suggest that the i9 will be available at Sprint, but there’s no sign of it over at Sprint’s website as of yet. Anyway here are the bells and whistles on the little unit
* iDEN network (800 MHz)
* 3 Mp camera with video recording
* Handles MPEG4, 3GP, RealVideo, WMV, H.263, H.264 video formats
* Handles MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, RA audio format
* microSD memory slot
* USB and Bluetooth connectivity
The i9′s controls are similar to the ROKR E8, which means they will switch functions depending on whether you are listening to tunes or making a call. Other than that no one seems to know much about the i9, especially on the launch date or price tag front. So we’ll just have to wait for Sprint to pull finger and give us an official launch before we can say yay or nay to the Motorola i9.
We’re used to seeing cellphones priced under US$100 these days, but the Motorola AURA is firmly entrenched at the other end of the scale with a staggering US$2000 price tag. Surely this unit would only appeal to the financially unsound? Anyway once you’ve recovered from the jaw-dropping price tag, check out the stats on this expensive sucker.
* Quad band, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
* Bluetooth connectivity
* 2 GB memory
* 2 Mp camera
* 1.87 x 3.81 x .730 in
* Circular 1.55 inch display
* 4.97 oz
* 400 hours of standby time
* 7.3 hours of talk time
It appears that Motorola feel that a Scratch-resistant, 62-carat, Grade 1 sapphire crystal lens justifies the two grand price tag on the AURA. Considering the camera only takes 2Mp images, we’re not impressed. We’re also not too sure who’s gonna buy one of these suckers either, some one with more money than sense we suspect.
Having just mentioned it in my last post, I decided to dig out a video review of the Motorola W755 and let you all have a look to see what it’s all about. Here’s one I found from good old phonearena.
Phonearena don’t rate the unit, and the downsides they mention (display dimness, bad call quality) would certainly encourage me to actually spend some more money on another model.
If you’re still keen as then here are some purchasing options available for the Motorola W755
Unfortunately no definite launch date or price tag yet, but Motorola assure that the ROKR EM35 slider will be ‘out there’ by year end. Here’s what else they will tell us about the unit
* GSM 850/900/1800/1900, EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12
* 2.2” QVGA display
* 110MB user memory
* MicroSD Card slot - allows expansion up to 32GB
* 3.1 Mp camera
* MMS, SMS, Email, IM messaging
* Plays AAC, AAC+, AAC+ Enhanced, AMR NB, AMR WB, MIDI, MP3, RA v10, RA v9, WAV, WMA v10, WMA v9 audio fomats
* Handles H.263, H.264, MPEG4, RV v9, WMV v10, WMV v9 video formats
* 49.5 x 107.00 x 16.00 mm
* 116g
* Up to 400 minutes of talk time
* Up to 400 hours of standby time
I’ll wait until I see a price tag around the ROKR EM35 before passing judgment but it’s gonna have to be cheap for anyone to get excited about it as the specs are nothing special - no 3G for starters. I’m guessing that this may not be a stocking filler this Christmas.
