Vista is almost here, but is your PC ready?

That’s the question many of us are asking right now. Microsoft has thought of that and recently released two coordinates meant to inform users if they are able to run Windows Vista on their PC’s. In other news, the Redmont giant has already started tagging the shipped computers that are part of the Microsoft Logo Program.They are now provided with a sticker that says Vista Capable, either Premium Ready PC.

Flickr hidden Christmas feature

There’s a hidden Christmas feature Flickr prepared for all of us. If you upload a photo and then issue a photo note that says “ho ho ho beard”, a sizable beard will appear for you to change the aspect of the photo into a funny one.

It seems the same goes for “ho ho ho hat”, whose result is obvious.

Web advertising isn’t a new revenue resource over the Internet, but the procedure got boosted in the last period of time. The web advertising is a two ways deal. First of all, there are publishers, the ones displaying the advertisements on their websites. Second, there are the advertisers that are paying the publisher (but most of the time a third party company) to display the ads.

Advertising is becoming more and more the “in your face” type. There are now pop-up ads, ads that play music and sound tracks, ads that swim across the screen, and so on. This evolved from the times where ads were innocently sitting in their places doing nothing interactive to attract visitors ;)

Google can’t make it to the front page

Despite the fact that Sergey Brin, one of Google’s founders, was born in Russia in 1973, the search giant doesn’t have a clear approach on the Russian market. Over the years, Google has been adapting itself to various languages and regions all over the globe, but they’ve opened a sales office there only a year ago. That provided the competition with a head start.

“Google promised they would destroy everything, but look at where they are,” said Irina Gofman, chief executive of Rambler Media, a Moscow based Internet portal and search service. “They are not that big.”
