James Bond watches
January 2nd, 2007I will start with the Smartcast RF30 watch that doubles as a fish sonar. Let’s begin with the manufacturer’s specs:
• Impressive 75 ft. radius remote operating range
• 100 ft. depth capability with ultra-wide 90 degree sonar beam
• Easy-to-see wristmount display
• One-touch menu navigation easily controls FishID, depth range, fish alarm, and sensitivity
• Lightweight, compact, and totally waterproof display
• Display uses a 2450CR replaceable battery
• Fully waterproof Remote Sonar Sensor typically lasts for 400 hours of in-the-water usage.
And the GREAT PRICE of $89.99!
This little gadget is supposed to help those of more adventurous nature that enjoy the wild in a technological way. All you have to do is “attach the Remote Sonar Sensor™ to your line and cast for instant, accurate views of what’s below” theoretically this should be very easy to use and useful as the watch can be attached to the rod or used with the wrist mount and the watch shows the fish and the bottom. Somehow I doubt that traditional fisherman who enjoy fishing are eager to use this technological upgrade that might somewhat lessen the thrill of waiting for the big catch. For some reason I picture the typical user for the Smartcast RF30 as the guy who’s always trying too hard and utterly fails.

The Anlong MP4 Watch from Shenzhen Adragon Digitek Co. Ltd is a watch that lets you play videos, just as the name clearly states. But it has a few additional features such as: 1GB of memory, 65k color screen, 128×128 pixel resolution, MP3, WMA and MP4 (NXV) format support, it can show .jpg picture files, Voice Recorder, Line-in, 5 EQ settings, super bass 3D sound effect playing modes, USB 2.0 port and 9 hour play time and of course, time display.
In other words it’s all you will ever want if you like to boast in front of your friends with your new recordings, mp3’s or pictures or if you just like state of the art gadgets. On the other hand it isn’t even that expensive with prices starting $98. For now the MP4 clock comes in orange, black and dark blue.

The Sony Ericsson MBW-100 Bluetooth Wristwatch is made by Fossil and it’s your regular analog watch only it has a OLED display that shows you the caller ID, message alert, out of range alert and it has controls for declining a call, play, pause and skip control of the phone’s music player function. The MBW-100 can connect with the following mobile phones form Sony Ericsson: K610, K610i, K618, K790, K800, V630, W710, W850, Z610, Z710.
The price starts from $300 on Ebay and in my opinion the MBW-100 is not that practical, the fish sonar is more useful than that.

They’re not exactly watches 007 would wear but it looks like SF technology comes in everyday life as time passes by. Take care!
