MSI Wind U135 now available at Amazon

January 27th, 2010

The new MSI Wind U135 sports Intel’s Pine Trail platform and boasts the new 1.66 GHz Atom processor increasing the battery life up to a very respectable 7.5 hours. Here’s the rest of the specification for the snazzy looking U135 laptop

* 1 GB Memory
* 160 GB HDD
* 802.11b/g/n connectivity
* Windows 7 Starter OS
* 10 inch 1024 x 600 res WSVGA display
* 4.3 pounds
* Built-in webcam
* Bluetooth connectivity

Apparently the MSI Wind U135 also has a quieter keyboard so you won’t disturb those around when you’re tip-tapping away plus a 20% wider touchpad for those of us with slightly chubbier digits. Overall though it’s a pretty standard netbook but the battery life is most definitely a plus to make the MSI Wind U135 worth taking a look at. Right now you can hold of one of these suckers at Amazon for a respectable $317.

MSI Wind Box Unleashed

October 20th, 2009

MSI Wind Box
MSI have just launched a couple of Wind Box mini desktops, namely the DC200 and DE200 for US$250 and US$300 respectively. The difference between the two units is an ATI Radeon HD 4350 Graphics card and HDMI output sported by the DE200 big brother of the duo. Otherwise the following details are common to the Wind Box siblings.

* 1.6GHz Intel Atom Processor
* 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM
* 160GB Hard Drive, VESA Wall mount included (L-Shape)
* Wireless b/g, 4-in-1 Card Reader, 4 x USB Ports, 1 x D-sub, 1 x LAN
* Windows XP Home
* 11.14 x 1.18 inches x 7.01 inches
* 4.5 lbs

These specs were gleaned from the Amazon website where the DC200 and DE200 Wind Boxes are on pre-order right now, but over at the MSI press release Wireless 802.11n is touted as being available on these suckers. Best check that out before purchase if it’s important to you. So if you’re on the lookout for a small desktop as an entertainment unit the DC200 and DE200 may be the answer you’re looking for.

MSI unleash the X600 Slim laptop

August 26th, 2009

MSI X600 Slim laptop

At a slimline 0.9 inches thick the MSI X600 laptop is certainly a neat little unit considering it still manages to squeeze in the following bits and pieces in its small frame

* 1.4GHz Penryn SFF C2S ULV SU3500 Processor
* 4GB DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM
* 320GB SATA Hard Drive
* Windows Vista Home Premium
* 6 Cell Battery
* 15.6″ WXGA 16:9 1366×768 res LCD display
* Graphics 512 MB
* 10.03 x 15.4 x 0.9 inches
* 4.6 lbs

The X600 certainly looks the part with that line-up and it has a pretty cool price tag of US$900 too. As usual with slimline laptops, there is no internal optical drive but the rest of the specs certainly look impressive. If you’ve taken a closer look at the MSI X600 then please let us know what you think.

Update: The X600 is on special over at Amazon for only $799.

MSI bring you the Wind U100 Plus

April 23rd, 2009

MSI Wind U100 Plus

MSI have unleashed an upgraded Wind U100 Plus with an Intel Atom N280 processor sitting inside plus a couple of extra colour options, Metallic Blue and Champagne Rose. It also sports XP Home, which I’m pretty sure is unsupported soon, unless of course Miscrosoft extend the deadline again. Other nice features on the Wind U100 Plus include 802.11n connectivity, built-in speakers, mic and webcam. The unit is quite obviously aimed at the user on the move especially when its marketing blurb starts out

Strolling down Avenue des Champs Elysees in Paris with style, I get swept off my feet by the Aegean Sea in Greece, let my hair down in a Brazilian Carnival ….

And so forth. Well I’m more interested in seeing some hard specs on MSI’s WInd U100 Plus and here they are

* Intel Atom N280 Processor
* Windows XP Home
* 10″ 1024 x 600 LCD Display
* Convenient Magnifying Capability
* 802.11b / g / n Wireless connectivity with Bluetooth
* 1 GB of memory
* 160 GB SATA HDD
* 1.3 Mp webcam
* 4 in 1 card reader
* Built-in 10/100 LAN
* 3 x USB 2.0 ports
* 3 or 6 cell battery option
* 260 x 180 x 31.5 mm
* 1.0 kg with 3 cell battery

Unfortunately I was unable to track down a price-tag for the U100 Plus but it sure looks like a snazzy unit, so hopefully MSI will do the honourable thing and hang a snazzy price-tag on the unit too.

MSI launch GT627 gaming notebook

January 27th, 2009

MSI GT627 gaming laptop
And just to prove it’s speed the MSI GT627 sports a red go-faster strip around its base. It also has a cunning little ‘turbo’ button on the keyboard

With MSI exclusive Turbo Drive Engine Technology, while the GT627 is in AC mode, just touch the turbo button above the keyboard and you can increase the speed of your CPU. Your computer will run smoothly to the very best of its abilities.

Almost makes you think that a pair of furry dice should be hanging from the top of the display, well, may be not. Anyway what else does this little mover sport

* Windows Vista Home Premium
* Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor
* 15.4″ TFT-LCD Display
* 4 Gb DDR2 667/800Mhz memory
* 1 GB nVIDIA Geforce 9800M GS 3D Graphic Card
* 2.0 Mp Webcam
* 802.11 n WiFi connectivity
* 10/100/1000 LAN connectivity
* HDMI output
* 4 in 1 card reader
* 3 USB 2.0 ports
* Express card slot
* 160/250/320 GB SATA HDD options
* DVD Super-Multi / Blu-Ray Optical Drive
* 6 or 9 cell battery
* 358 x 260 x 27-31 mm
* 2.7 kg

Not a bad set of specs for a gaming unit, but unfortunately we have no price tag as yet. We’re guessing not cheap but gaming enthusiasts tend not to worry about minor little details like dollars, focusing more the on unit’s specs. So the MSI GT627 may be a little winner in the making.
