Keep your AdSense account under observation (GREAT Firefox extension)

January 17th, 2007

adsense_notifier

Here’s a Firefox extension that is useful to me due its simplicity and ergonomy. The AdSense Notifier is compatible with ALL versions of the browser, above 1.0. Its description is quite simple. The plugin displays your AdSense stats on the status bar and updates them automatically at a set period of time. This is wonderful for anyone with OCD - Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder ( or GAD - General Anxiety Disorder as some have called it ) who needs to check their stats every three seconds to see if they have gotten any more clicks :-P

Overall, the little widget is highly configurable and should be useful for everyone that uses Google’s advertising system.

Use it wisely.

January 13th, 2007

The Acid2 test is developed by The Web Standards Project, in order to point out flaws in HTML/CSS rendering engines in browsers. So far, several browsers have managed to pass the test, including Opera, Mac’s Safari and the less known Konqueror. Mozilla Firefox 3.0 available in upcoming summer

January 12th, 2007

Mozilla made its intention public of making Firefox 3.0 (Gran Paradiso) available in the summer of 2007. There’s a slight possibility that it will be delayed until the end of the year maximum, but that’s unlikely.

The document sets out the feature set, product requirements and prioritization for the development and release of Firefox 3, code-named “Gran Paradiso”, presently under development with an expected release in Q3 2007. The intended audience for this document is the community involved in designing, developing, testing and managing the release of the product as well as partners and third-party developers who are building software that extends Gran Paradiso

Firefox 3.0 planning documentation

Mozilla’s Release Road Map additionally disclosed the Firefox 3.0 milestones. They’re planning to release two alpha versions and two beta versions before the final product. They’re also planning to release one major version every year, so we should expect Firefox 4.0 by the end of 2008.

Access ALL Google services from Firefox directly

January 6th, 2007

gutil

This can be done with the help of a smart extension.
Today, Google runs an impressive collection of web services, starting with the plain old webmail, webhosting, the well known search engine and going through a palette of office applications.

Because of that, many people have tried to build up a resume of all these services, but it’s hard to keep track of them, since Google Labs is developing new services even as we speak. I’m going to present you with a Firefox extension that will create a toolbar in your browser, filled up with Google services. The plugin is configurable, therefore you can select only those services that are of your interest (e.g. webmail and search).

All you have to do is to visit the official webpage of the extension and click on the install button and Firefox will download and activate it automatically. If you want to install the extension from your computer, you should download the add-on using another browser and save it on your hard disk. The plugin is only 38KB small so it won’t take long for it to install.

If you encounter any problems or if you have questions, don’t hesitate to point them out directly to the author.
