Averatec N1200 10 inch laptop

Averatec has just unleashed the N1200 laptop, which they claim is

the thinnest, lightest 10.1-inch netbook on the market today

Quite a brave claim given the vast array of 10 inch laptops out there which presumably they have checked to verify this statement. Putting the marketing spiel aside, the unit does only weigh a touch under 1 kg and measures 327 x 228 x 25 mm. The N1200 base model (N1231EA1E) also sports an attractive price tag of $330 which is very impressive. The downside? Ah, yes, the inevitable downside is a battery life of up to 3 hours which of course explains the N1200′s weight or lack of through the use of lithium polymer battery cells. Extended battery models will be available and of course heavier. Here’s the full list of specs on Averatec’s N1200 base model

* Battery (hrs): Up to 3hrs
* Screen Size: 10.1″ Wide LED LCD (16:9) (1024 x 600)

There’s no optical drive or bluetooth connectivity but that’s pretty standard with these light-weight netbooks. Overall Averatec look like they have come up with a winner with the N1200 series if you can live with the three hour battery life. As a matter of interest the six hour battery model weighs 2.46 lbs, just over 4 ounces more.

The N1200 series will be available later this month.
