Yamaha YAS-70 front surround system

Whilst we’re not toally convinced by front surround sound systems, we do appreciate their space-saving and cable-reducing capabilities. We’ve already taken a look at an all-in-one offering from Yamaha, the YSP-500, and here’s a dual unit model, the Yamaha YAS-70. With the YAS-70, Yamaha have split out the sub-woofer unit from the main ‘soundbar’. This single change alone will probably improve the bass quality no end. Anyway here and the bits and pieces on the YAS-70

* Dolby Pro Logic II
* DTS 5.1 channel sound format
* Total 310W (35W x 6 channels + 100W subwoofer) output power
* 4 surround programs
* FM Tuner
* Digital Optical and Coaxial Inputs
* Center System 37 x 4 x 4 inches
* Subwoofer / System Control 11 x 19.5 x 13.5 inches
* 9.9 lbs. / 33.1 lbs

You can also hook up your iPod via an optional Yamaha Universal iPod Dock and crank out some tunes through this sucker as well using the same remote control.

Now here’s the real good news, the Yamaha YAS-70 is available for only US$200 over at Amazon. And judging by the users reviews which give it 4.5 stars out of 5, the YAS-70 is a hot little number.
