Amex launch their Blu-Ray player BD-P1
January 14th, 2009
We’ve taken a look at a couple of new Blu-Ray players already this year and here’s a third, the BD-P1 from Amex Digital. It’s also the cheapest of the trio at US$240. Here are the rest of its details for you to check out.
* supports both single- and dual-layer BD-R and BD-RE discs, as well as BD-ROM discs
* handles Dolby Digital and DTS formats
* outputs 720p, 1080i or 1080p via the HDMI 1.3 connection
* handles BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-R 3.0, BD-JAVA 1.1, SUN-JAVA discs
* as well as DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD and CD-R/RW discs
* and will play/display MP3, WMA and JPEG file formats
* Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports
* outputs include component video, composite video, HDMI 1.3, stereo audio, optical digital audio, Coaxial
All that for US$240, whilst it may not be a bargain, it’s certainly at the lower end of the scale. The Sharp BD-HP22U is probably a better unit, but costs more at $300 and of course isn’t available until May whilst Amex’s BD-P1 is here right now. So if you’re itching to go ‘Blu’ the Amex BD-P1 may be what you’re looking for.
