December 14th, 2008
Looking for a new DVR to go with that big HDTV you’ve got? May be the Digeo Moxi HD DVR is the answer you’ve been looking for? If so you’d better act quick as there are currently only a limited number available at Amazon, with a full launch in the New Year.
* CableCARD support
* 500 GB HDD for up to 75 hours of HD recording
* 10.5 x 12 x 3 inches
* 15.2 pounds
* Dual HD Tuners
There’s an US$800 price tag on this little sucker which seems a bit steep, for US$600 you can get 150 hours of HD with a Tivo HD XL DVR. So the Moxi may not be the great bargain we’re all after.

The Tivo requires monthly subscription or lifetime service fees, while the Moxi DVR includes lifetime service. So in the end it’s probably a better deal.
John points out a great point. Lifetime service from Tivo is currently at $400. There is no monthly fee for the moxi box. Also with Tivo you have ads on your menus, Moxi doesn’t have any. so 600 bucks for a Tivo, plus $400 for lifetime service, or $800 one time fee for the Moxi.
