Samsung launch their LN55A950 LCD HDTV
December 2nd, 2008
The boys over at Home Theater Mag are enthusing over the latest LCD HDTV offering from Samsung, the LN55A950. And judging by the tests they carry out, they should know a great LCD TV when they see one. The unit comes with a pretty hefty price tag though, weighing in at US$5,000, so this sucker is not for the fiscally faint-hearted. Here are a few more bits and pieces on the Samsung LN55A950.
* 55 inch display
* Up to 1080p resolution
* 53.7 x 32.3 x 4.4 inches
* 80 lbs
* Video Inputs – HDMI 1.3 (4), component video (2, 1 shared), S-video (1, shared), composite video (2, 1 shared)
* Audio Outputs – stereo analog, digital (coaxial)
* Dynamic Contrast Ratio 1,000,000:1
* Viewing Angle 178º by 178º
* Features include Picture-in-Picture, Game Mode, Anynet, Infolink RSS
Quite an amazing set of specs really and yes that contrast ratio is correct leading the HT mag reviewer to say
The Samsung produces black levels and shadow detail that are superior to any other LCD I’ve tested to date.
Of course it all depends what units he’s tested ;-)
However I should imagine that the Samsung LN55A950 lives up to its reputation and could be a top pick for some home theatre enthusiasts this Christmas. If you’re very keen you can nip on over to Best Buy now and pick up a LN55A950 for only US$4,200. Happy shopping!
