Asus EAH3870 X2 1GB

If you’ve got a couple of PCI slots available on your desktop and a hankering for a bank of four wide screen monitors then look no further than the latest graphics card from Asus, the EAH3870 X2 with a staggering 1 GB of video memory. The guys over at HotHardware are drooling over this little (well not so little really) sucker and with good reason. Here are a few bits and pieces to enable you to join in with the drooling

* 1GB of GDDR3 DRAM at 1200MHz
* Four DVI outputs
* Dual fan cooling
* Dual slot card

I’m not sure I could justify four monitors for the cost alone but if you’ve got a desire to fill your desk with monitors then this card is for you. Unfortunately no price tag wrapped around this sucker yet but what price can you put on wall to wall pixels!

The Xtreme XL8 Rocks

February 2nd, 2008

Rock Xtreme XL8

The title on Rock’s home page states that they deal in the ‘Ultimate performance gaming laptops and notebooks’. Well their latest offering, the Xtreme XL8, certainly seems to fit the bill and here are the specs to back up the claim.

* Intel X6800 quad processor
* 2 GeForce 8800M GTX video cards
* 1 TB HDD spinning at 5,400 rpm
* 17 inch 1,920 x 1,200 res display
* Wireless connectivity 802.11a/b/g/draft-n
* HD-DVD drive

Of course any sucker stacked full of these kind of features is not going to come with a wafer thin price tag and the Xtreme XL8 is no exception coming in at a range of US$5,000 to US$6,000 depending on spec. However if power computing in a notebook is what your after then the Xtreme XL8 could just be the solution.
