Epoq to launch Nextgen 4 GB PMP

January 1st, 2008

I’ve scoured over the specs for this puppy a few times now and there really is nothing to write home about, so I’m not too sure what Epoq are trying to pull with this release. Their latest PMP, the Nextgen 4 GB, will be unleashed at CES 2008 and sports the following features and specs

* 3 inch, 320 x 240 res display
* 4 GB internal storage
* Video support for AVI, DAT and FLV files
* Audio support for MP3 and WMA files
* USB connectivity
* SD expansion slot
* FM radio
* 90g
* 98mm x 60mm x 12mm

With an uncomfortably high price tag of US$250, I can’t imagine there’ll be a stampede towards the Epoq stand to catch a glimpse of this puppy when it is launched at CES. In fact with a 4 GB offering from MPIO at almost half the price (assuming it’s priced in the US as it is Japan) plus DIVX, MPEG4 and APE support, is anyone actually going to buy one of these?
