vod:pod shows potential

vod:pod is one of those Web 2.0 projects that’s based on communities, sharing and connecting with more and more people. As I have seen lately the tendency is for web content to become more based on groups of interest and more focused on personal relationships and inter-human connections, vod:pod wants to do exactly that, personalize and share.
What vod:pod wants you to do is create a “pod”, a collection of videos from various sources such as YouTube, Google videos, etc. or even upload your own movies in order to create a personalized collection upon certain theme or just videos that you liked. Why do you need vod:pod for that when you have YouTube?! Well as I have said vod:pod has this web 2.0 feel about it, you can create, update, upload, customize and then share real quick, you can even use the “pod” on your website or blog with the help of widgets.
Certainly there are some drawbacks such as the fact that vod:pod is in some post-beta state and has a limited number of pods/users/videos but the system is promising.
