Nokia chooses the VoIP path
December 3rd, 2006At the Nokia World the main event for Nokia when dealing with media and customers many words were used to praise the new Nokia Communication Suite, the Nokia Unified Core Network and also the Nokia Peer-to-peer Traffic Control. So let’s see what’s it really all about:
The main idea is that Nokia loves IP and wants to develop management applications in order to facilitate voice and data transfer from the web to the mobile phone. One example is the Nokia Communication Suite that offers advanced calling services for users with broadband connections that can transform PCs into softphones. Nokia intends to use IP technology such as VoIP to provide Video Sharing, video calls, instant messaging, presence, file sharing, and other multimedia services. In other words you can receive calls from the PC on your mobile phone, or you can answer calls to your mobile number using either your PC or your mobile phone.
The Nokia Peer-to-peer Traffic Control it’s said to be the first software of it’s kind that allows mobile operators to efficiently control the Peer-to peer traffic on the network for a better balance of network resources.
All this new technologies are meant to be implemented as a update for the Nokia Flexi Intelligent Service Node starting the first half of 2007.
