China hates Wikipedia
November 20th, 2006
They got banned! Again. The government in Beijing blocked the access to the English and Chinese versions of Wikipedia about a year ago, because some entries there were affecting the “national integrity”.
The site’s English version was unblocked last month after a year old ban, while the Chinese version became available late last week. Rumors said that the “leak” will be temporary, and indeed, they were right. Three days ago, several reports from different parts of China were received; users weren’t able to access the website again.
This reminds me of the censorship during the communist dictatorship, when the liberty of speech was rarely free to speak :)
Anyway, the users that were trying to access blocked sites received a technical error message instead of one that says the website is being blocked. This seems pretty low to me.
Shouldn’t Wikipedia (with its truths and hurting truths) be available to anyone? Share your opinion by leaving a comment behind.

Speaking of censorship… :)
But the fact is that the articles here could be read by children.

Isn’t China A COMUNIST DICTATORSHIP?!?!?!? Guess what, IT IS! So this should not come as a great surprise to any of us, it’s called censorship and it’s what they do best…
It comes as no surprise to me. I mean, China did try to take control over Google’s results (which are not as ‘free’ as Wiki’s articles).
ehm,i’m going to debate on this proble.
the motion is Wikipedia should not be banned in China
and,i have to make a speech that i agreed with this motion, and the second thing is i have to make a speech that i’m not agreed qwith this motion.
so, would you, all of theperson who visit this, help me?
You’re going to need to learn proper grammar before anyone could help you write a speech. Good luck on writing it, though. If you feel strong about a subject, you’ll do fine.
