Windows Vista Demo Environment
November 15th, 2006
Microsoft seems to take a step forward each day in the Longhorn field. Recently, the Redmond company has released the Windows Vista Demo Readiness Toolkit (DRT). The package is available only to members of the Microsoft Partner program, at least for now, and that’s actually a visually-based installation of Vista.
The first question that hit me at that time was how in the world could Microsoft publish a release that hasn’t gone final yet, for anyone public? Searching deeper, I have found that DRT is based on the RC1 build of codename “Longhorn”.
The Windows Vista Demo Readiness Toolkit includes customer scenarios and sample applications. On top of them, Microsoft is delivering a script and a feature showcase to demonstrate the key characteristics of the operating system.
Test your mouse-clicking ability. Take the DRT Challenge and you can win exciting prizes. To win, simply view the Windows Vista Demo Readiness Toolkit and take a quick quiz. And if you are up for an even bigger challenge, you can submit your own demo video.
The Windows Vista Partner Demo Readiness Toolkit (DRT) enables you to check out the product for yourself, and gain the expert skills needed to effectively demo it to your customers. It includes Windows Vista RC1 and Microsoft® Office Professional 2007 Beta 2, and has been pre-populated with settings and media to simulate an end-user PC experience. You will also find demo scripts, hardware recommendations*, presentation resources, and release notes to support you in developing your demo skills.
