Zune comes early

It seems like some stores in the US cut short the release date for the new Zune players. The official release date is November 14 but some stores were hasty to get an early start in distributing the latest iPod killer.

Speaking of which, Microsoft claims that the new Zune it’s not just another iPod killer. With a price of $249 Zune offers a slightly larger screen than that of many competitors, FM radio tuner and a 30-gigabytes hard drive to store thousands of songs, pictures and hours of video. The case can be white, black or even a muted brown. But there’s more about this player then looks and muscle, the thing I like the most is the possibility to locate other Zune players and wirelessly exchange content.

Items included in the retail box are the player, a soft case, USB cable, ear buds, installation CD, instruction manual and the 14-day free trial to Zune Marketplace as a bonus.

It seems that Microsoft tries an approach based on connectivity and on the social side ( the case has written on the side: “Welcome to the social” ) it remains to be seen if Zune will reach Microsoft’s expectations.
