Google VS Yahoo, or How to be the #1 search engine
November 1st, 2006
The surfers are currently speculating a potential aquisition of AOL by Yahoo. But rumours say that Yahoo could form an alliance with Microsoft in the future. Could this be one of their next step in trying to compete with Google?
The potential deal (if it would be signed) would worth over 13 billion (yes, billion) dollars.
Taking a look at what happened recently, most likely this has something to do with Yahoo’s dispute with Google for the #1 search engine. Currently, Yahoo is keeping the 2nd place, while Google prouldy trones first. Why am I saying that? It’s obvious they wouldn’t want to stay behind, since Google currently integrated YouTube, Myspace and most recently, JotSpot.
Google is currently AOL’s exclusive Internet search provider, after it has acquired a 5% stake in AOL for $1 billion. Recent speculations that were also not finalized involved a possible Yahoo takeover of the social networking hotspot Facebook for $1 billion.
If this dispute carries on as it had until now, it’s not excluded that in the future we’ll have two search engines running around to aquisite every “top” brand on the market.
We shall live, and we shall see.
